We want a cohesive, community-supported vision.
The impact of re-developing CSX Hulsey Yard (70 acres) cannot be overstated. In order to remain proactive, Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, Reynoldstown, and Cabbagetown formed the Hulsey Yard Study Committee in 2017 to gauge interest for a master plan for the site. Currently owned & operated by CSX Transportation, the viability of this intown Heavy Industrial use is most likely reaching the end of its lifespan and becoming increasingly economically attractive for re-purposing. The parcel spans the distance between two MARTA stations, borders two Landmark Historic Districts, and is bisected by the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail. The regional & local implications of converting a massive railway piggyback facility into a vibrant, well-planned development are almost too numerous to conceive.
Comprised of members of these communities, leaders of these neighborhood organizations, and representatives of NPU’s N & M, our coalition has engaged Lord Aeck Sargent to assist with community-driven planning, consensus building & neighborhood input, meaningful engagement of current & potential stakeholders, and guidance in the creation of a working vision and master plan for the area that attracts thoughtful partnerships and inspires uplifting cooperation.
